I was asked by a Major Events & Entertainment Client [the Australian Grand Prix Corporation] if I would observe their Crisis and Emergency Management Exercises in the lead up to their 2017 event. The exercises were planned and facilitated by Emergency Management Consulting Services (EMCS).
The exercises involved a multi-agency operating environment and were conducted with highly relevant scenarios, that fully engaged all participants and robustly tested their interaction, readiness, and ability to respond to the crisis and emergency situation.
The Manage a Crisis training is the most important training I have ever done in my life.
Paul is the consummate professional, extremely well versed in all facets of Emergency Management. He has been instrumental in leading a substantial review of the Glen Eira Emergency Management Plan to ensure that it meets State Government requirements. As a result we achieved an excellent audit result with a significant improvement when compared to previous audit performance. Paul also delivered recovery training for Glen Eira staff that was professionally planned and implemented. Paul’s professional and diligent approach coupled with his breath of emergency management experience makes him an asset to any organisation.
EMCS understands MOPT’s needs well after several years of engagement. We feel comfortable that our staff are adequately prepared for emergency situations and the training we have received from EMCS is essential to our readiness. Scenarios were realistic and really tested those participating. Full use of the control room setting adds to the realism as well as good visual aids to enhance the scenarios. I think we will continue to head down the path of providing more of a training element for staff in the VCC rather than just the scenario/review day. This was significantly improved this year with the workshop that was conducted. I would definitely recommend EMCS services to other events and venues.

The level of experience within EMCS was evident when dealing with Paul. The depth of knowledge in emergency management and the ease with which the training was delivered was very useful in assisting our staff to understand and practice the principles relating planning, preparedness, response and recovery. The understanding of the project is of a very high level. EMCS are very thorough with planning and provide solid/relevant feedback where required. Planning for Emergency Management Exercise is thorough and well thought out in the context of our events. The associated exercise is well executed, realistic to the events and involves the majority of attendees to ensure learnings/embedding of processes across the group. Paul’s thorough nature, willingness to discuss issues and provide input is appreciated.
The whole process from planning to delivery of the Emergency Relief Centre Training and exercise ran smoothly. Time was dedicated to scoping our proposal and a good understanding of what we hoped to achieve was demonstrated in the project outline and actual session. The session was well planned and delivered and presented in a way that enabled both experienced and non experienced staff to participate fully and obtain a good understanding of what would be required of them should Council need to establish an Emergency Relief Centre. I would recommend EMCS and would have no hesitation using you again in future.
EMCS delivered professional presentations, which encompassed all facets of Emergency Management and was extremely useful in keeping staff up to date and prepared for all incidents in the future.
EMCS delivered the project in a timely manner with regular progress updates. EMCS has enabled our organisation to begin to push beyond the standard concepts of risk management towards a broader and holistic review in this area.
Training was very well received by the team with many commenting on how valuable and useful it was for them in their roles. It did help us to review our processes to improve them and increase readiness to deal with emergencies.
The review highlighted VIFM gaps, we were aware of these gaps however the evaluation was useful to put them into context. Yes the service was great- it was great to be able to have an independent person provide the evaluation report.
Paul brings a great wealth of experience and skills in Emergency Management practice with a common sense approach. Trainees have provided very positive feedback about the sessions, which he has conducted for the business.
